Katharine Hepburn Cultural Arts Museum, Old Saybrook, CT

Since its beginning in 1910, the building which currently houses the Katharine Hepburn Cultural Arts Center has seen a lot of life. The former Town Hall underwent construction in 2005 involving a few new additions and renovating the historic structure. The Cultural Arts Center opened in 2009. It includes a 250-seat theater and a small museum honoring Katharine Hepburn, Old Saybrook’s most celebrated resident. The structure was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2007. Helical piles were selected to stabilize the existing structure and support the new additions. FSI was hired to install 20 piles, 12 piles were connected to high strength foundation brackets to support the existing structure and 8 piles were installed to support the new additions.
